Tight and Aching Leg Muscles Treatment

Tight and Aching Leg Muscles

Do you get cramps, tight, and aching leg muscles? How about sciatica-like symptoms referring from your hip? Perhaps, you have been experiencing aching and tired legs during or after exercise; these symptoms are often being overlooked and misdiagnosed by practitioners. We identify and deal with these soft tissue problems with a holistic approach that is effective in alleviating the symptoms as well as addressing the underlying cause.

Triggers Points

It is well documented that active trigger points may account for 70-85% for musculoskeletal pain in the body. A trigger point (or known as a muscle tight knock that is tender on palpation), is defined as a hyperirritable spot in the skeletal muscle that can cause motor dysfunction and autonomic. It can give rise to characteristic referred pain e.g. active trigger points in the inner side of your upper calf typically cause referred pain to the heel, mimicking plantar fasciitis symptoms, and trigger points in some of the hip muscles can cause symptoms of sciatica that refer down to your legs.

Do trigger points go away without therapies?

Untreated trigger points can last forever. They impair muscle strength and flexibility, leading to declined performance and increased risks of injuries. Symptoms associated with active trigger points can be excruciating and linger on for many years without appropriate treatment. Research has indicated that stretching of muscles containing trigger points have a very little benefit and patients often comment, “Stretching doesn’t make any difference.” Deactivation of trigger points before starting a stretching programme can maximize the effect of stretching.
